With its “Summer of Lust” theme, the party will have a 1970s disco emphasis, featuring unique surprise guest performances, including go-go girls and boys dancing to the tunes of DJ Justin Credible. “As an author, educator, non-profit founder and community leader, as a role model, executive and friend, her contributions have been tremendous,” Sparks said. “For us and for so many who know her and her good work, Dr. Carol Queen is truly a living legend and a treasure.” Also included at the party will be the Good Vibrations Wheel of Pleasure, where attendees will spin the wheel to win prizes. There is no charge to attend, and the event will benefit the non-profit Center for Sex and Culture. Good Vibrations will donate 10% of sales during the event to the organization. “If you'd told me when I was a kid I'd be having this much fun at the age of 50, I'd never have believed it!” said Queen, who holds the distinction of having the second longest consecutive number of years at the business and has played a key role in planning its 30th Anniversary. “When I was in my 20s, I heard a storyteller riff on the theme ‘Follow what fascinates you,’” Queen said. “I decided to try to live my life that way, which led me right to San Francisco. I'm so grateful to live in a city I love and to have the opportunity to contribute to it through work I love - and to support my non-profit by congregating with friends and colleagues while I celebrate!”About Carol Queen About Good Vibrations Dr. Carol Queen, PhD is available for interviews.
