SAN FRANCISCO (November 14th, 2012): After poring over record numbers of international indie erotic film submissions, Good Vibrations presented the top sexy shorts in 7 minutes or less at their 7th annual QUICKIES Short Erotic Film Competition on Friday, October 26th at the Castro Theatre. Thrilled after viewing the top twelve finalists, a full house overwhelmingly selected their Audience Choice winner: “Love Birds” by Canadian filmmaker Brian Lye who took home the $1,500 prize.
Guests were treated to a diverse collection of sexy films ranging from innocuous to explicit, including everything from horny cyclists on a high-speed chase through the streets of Berlin in “Das Randy Radfahrers,” a comically awkward three-way in “Reverse Cowgirl,” a charming romance between a man and his blow-up doll in “Plastic Love,” and the surprising fate of avian love in “Love Birds.” Awarded SF Weekly’s "Best Place to See Your (Talented and Attractive) Neighbors Naked," this year’s finalists include neighbors from Australia, Germany, Canada, Israel, and the United States.

An irreverent panel of drag queens including indie film queen and drag celebrity extraordinaire, Peaches Christ and Good Vibrations’ own Staff Sexologist Dr. Carol Queen curated the films from the stage and provided comic relief and sexological insight during the unusual experience of watching sexy films in a public theatre.
Filmgoers began the evening at the Halloween pre-party in the mezzanine with spooky tunes by the Cryptic Quartet, gory burlesque by the Can-Cannibals, cold cocktails, tasty bites, and sexy give-aways. Indie porn queen, director and star Joanna Angel was in attendance, sharing her film “Fuckenstein,” an explicit homage to everyone’s favorite classic horror flick featuring a monster with monstrous proportions. Guests mingled with her and other filmmakers at the pre-party in this fun and irreverent celebration of sexy cinema. Once in the mood, they went into the erotic short film competition where they viewed the films and selected the $1,500 winner with their applause.
Good Vibrations’ film festival producer Camilla Lombard declares: “We are so grateful to all of the filmmakers who submitted films to the festival, and to our community sponsors for making it such a blast. The Quickies gets bigger every year and we are delighted by the diversity of submissions -- funny, serious, explicit, romantic, straight, queer, kinky, animated, or something else entirely. We hope to see your film next year!”
